The waters of employee background checks are tricky to navigate. Shifting rules and regs make it hard to know what you can and can’t use to help you hire the best people. On top of that, there’s a flood of vendors out there offering solutions. Turns out, one of them wants to help you sort the mess out.
Site name: EmployeeScreen University
URL: http://university.employeescreen.com/
Who runs it: EmployeeScreenIQ, a background screening service and technology provider
What it provides: It’s run by a vendor, so you’ve got to keep that in mind when you read some of the info they provide. But mostly, they provide good coverage of what’s going on in the area, and most stories are actually links to other news sources. (The idea seems to be that they help you out with some unbiased info, it’ll be easier to turn you into a customer.)
Particularly helpful is a section on Legislative Updates, which gives you some info about federal and state law changes, and best practice advice on conducting checks without getting caught in legal snares.
And, of course, there’s a good bit of info about EmployeeScreenIQ and its products and services.
