New site lets candidates name their signing bonus

Lately, job board companies have been looking for ways to spice up their sites — often, by paying applicants to use them.

The most recent addition is a service known as PaidInterviews.com. Despite the name, candidates don’t actually earn money just for going to interviews — just once they land a job. Here’s how it works:

Candidates create a profile on the site and name the amount they want to be paid for accepting a job offer (defined as a percentage of the starting salary). When an employer posts a job opening, it names the percentage it’s willing to give the candidate who accepts the offer.

The site then matches candidates with jobs they’re qualified for and that give the signing bonus they want.

According to PaidInterviews, this means the site will attract only high quality candidates — but we aren’t sure how. Offering extra money would convince a lot of people to look for new jobs, regardless of the quality of the employee.
