4 dumb employees who got themselves fired online

These days, many folks have no problem posting everything about their daily lives on the Internet. Here are some employees who revealed a little too much:

  1. A bank employee told his boss he needed time off for a “family emergency.” In reality, he was leaving work to go to a Halloween party. He posted a photo of himself at the party to his Facebook profile — in an embarrassing Peter Pan costume, no less. Word got back to the boss, who fired the guy and forwarded the photo to everyone in the office.
  2. A firefighter took part in a body-building competition — two weeks after he applied for permanent disability benefits for alleged back injuries. He did well in the contest, and footage found its way online. It wasn’t long before the fire department saw the video — and gave him the opportunity to lift weights full-time.
  3. A high school art teacher in Texas caught some heat after her students found out she’d posted nude photos of herself online. She eventually resigned because of the controversy.
  4. Two employees at a Canadian grocery store had a habit of stealing from their employer — and were dumb enough to brag about it online, using their real names. When the company found out, they claimed it was a joke. But the store didn’t want to take its chances.
